Go Well Awarded Innovate UK Funding to Help More People Move in Everyday Places

The Go Well Community CIC has been awarded funding from Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, to expand its innovative physical activity platform, Explore.

The £249,689 of funding will support a 12-month project to develop and expand Explore 2.0; a digital trail system that helps people move more in the places they already live, work, learn and play. By turning everyday locations like schools, parks and business sites into interactive activity trails, Explore encourages simple, fun and personalised movement for all ages.

Explore has already been used in 17 schools and piloted in both community and workplace settings, helping hundreds of people get active in a way that fits around their daily routines. With this funding, Go Well will build on that success through further technical development, piloting and preparation for national roll-out.

Sarah Price, CEO of Go Well, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to have secured significant funding from Innovate UK for Explore 2.0. This is a game-changing opportunity to improve and scale a programme that brings movement into people’s daily lives. Explore helps make already accessed places more open to movement opportunities, which is vital for improving health and wellbeing in a simple, fun way.”

The bid was developed with support from Opencast and Durham University, who will be partners in the delivery of the project.

Prof. Jonathan Kimmitt, Durham University Business School said:

“As a Visiting Fellow on our Smart & Scale programme, we are delighted to collaborate with Sarah and Go Well in this Innovate UK project. Explore will make a tangible difference to health and well-being and help Go Well to take the next important steps in their business journey”
