 Job Description

  • To inspire and build healthy active futures
  • To support the company to achieve its vision to positively impact the wellness of 1 million people by 2025
  • To work in primary schools predominantly across the South Durham, Darlington and surrounding areas delivering curriculum PE, coaching days, after school clubs and community clubs
  • To work alongside the class teachers with the aim of increasing the teachers’ confidence in teaching curriculum PE
  • To lead and support a range of school sport competitions and festivals
  • To support the organisation and delivery of Go Well projects
  • To be an active and supportive member of the team and contribute to the development of the organisation through feedback, shared learning and sharing ideas

Person Specification

Essential:
  • Fair, honest and high levels of integrity
  • Passionate about the power of PE, School Sport and Physical Activity and the difference it makes to peoples’ lives
  • Committed to continuous improvement, experimentation and learning
  • Commitment to a child and people centred approach
  • Understanding of the importance of and be committed to, collaboration and partnership working
  • Enthusiasm to work as a member of a team and also to use own initiative
  • Level 2 NGB qualification in a games based activity or Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Multi Skills Development in Sport or QTS
  • Experience of coaching sports/multi skills to 4 to 11 year olds
  • Ability to relate to and motivate children aged 4 to 11 year olds
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated, committed, flexible
  • IT literate
  • High standards of personal appearance
  • Full and current driving licence and access to transport
  Desirable:
  • Experience of teaching sports/multi skills in a school setting
  • Experience of coaching striking and fielding and/or invasion games and/or net/wall games and/or athletics
  • Experience of delivering in EYFS
  • Experience in mentoring other professionals
  • Multiple Sports Coaching qualifications
  • Knowledge of Primary Physical Education
  • Knowledge of the current school sport landscape
  • Experience of delivering or supporting Sport Festivals
  • Experience of delivering or supporting community clubs
  • Other relevant qualifications ; First Aid, Safeguarding etc

Working Hours:

  • Part time (min 0.5) or Full time role available
  • Mon-Fri
  • Some early evening work may be required (6.30pm latest finish)
  • Hours variable and flexible.  Typical days could be:
  • 9am – 4.30pm
  • 11am – 6.30pm

Salary:

  • FTE £22368 – £24054 Pro Rata Term Time Only (Actual Salary – £17815.31 – £19157.29)
  • 5.6 weeks paid holiday
  • Travel expenses for business miles

Contract:

Initially a fixed term contract from the agreed start date to 31st August 2024.  The contract will be extended should the company sustain or grow its work.  In 10 years we have not ‘laid off’ or not renewed any fixed term contracts.  We plan to continue to grow and maintain our team but we have to be completely aligned to our values of being fair and honest and be transparent in that this is not something we can guarantee.

Agile working

Our office is based at Chilton Academy (DL17 0PT).  We allow our team to decide how to make work, work for them, whether that is, when not delivering in a school, predominantly working from home or predominantly working in the office.  We are not a fully remote company and the role will require some travel to our office for staff meetings and training.
